Dog Boarding and Training
It’s Like a Boarding School For Dogs!
Looking to fast track your dog’s training? Just don’t have the time to devote to training your dog, yourself? Your dog is too large or too strong for you to handle? Or maybe you feel that an expert will be able to train your pup better? K9 Basics offers arguably the best dog boarding and training program, not just in New Jersey, but anywhere in the U.S.
Even Alaska’s Heard Of Us!
Clients routinely come from as far South as Georgia, as far North as Vermont, and as far west as Western Pennsylvania. But get this – we even had one client who drove her pet dog all the way from Alaska to board and train with us!
Three Sessions Daily for Three Weeks
Our program involves training sessions three times daily, and lasts for three weeks. It is a balanced program in which your dog is handled by all of our experienced trainers. This helps to ensure that you’ll be able to successfully control the dog at the completion of the training.
Fast-Track Training
By concentrating the training within this three-week period, your dog is able to progress much faster than ones who participate in our regular K9 group obedience training.
Since your dog is boarding and training with us, progress and changes can be observed over a larger window of time. We are able to problem-solve the issues that arise on a daily basis, and modify your dog’s behavior immediately.
Learning To Ignore Distractions Is Key
Just as with group training, we teach dogs to perform regardless of any distractions that naturally occur in the real world. This includes interactions with other dogs, people, noises, smells and so on. This is not a cookie cutter method: all dogs are different. But our overall principles of training do apply to board + train as well.
Some of the areas we focus on are attention to command, off-leash control (including heel, recall, and distance control), and pack socialization off-leash.
More About Dog Boarding and Training
The Board and Train program is our residency program where you drop off your dog at our facility for 2-3 weeks. During that time your dog will get one on one professional dog training. This program is geared towards severe behavior cases or owners who simply don’t have the time to put in the harder foundational work into training their dog. During your dog’s stay you are welcomed to schedule a visit to see their progression (at the trainers’ discretion.) At the end of the program you are guaranteed on and off leash control which includes:
- Recall (coming when called)
- Sitting and downing on command until released or given another command
- Placing for a long duration of time no matter the distraction level
- Walking properly on leash and heeling when commanded
- No longer jumping on people or surfaces
- How to properly enter and exit and stay in a crate
- How to properly get in and out of the car
- Sitting before entering or exiting doorways
- Stopping certain behaviors like digging and chewing
- Not to react or lunge on walks towards people or other dogs/animals (if applicable)
This program also includes one home lesson and lifetime Group Training. We highly suggest to participate in the Group Classes after Board and Train to continue to build a better bond between you and your dog.
