Is your dog out of control, or just not always in control? K9 Basics Dog Training in Marlton NJ has got you covered. K9 Basics owners, Lisa and Brian, have devoted their lives to help owners get the best out of their dogs. Just like the owners, the trainers are very passionate about their jobs and always go above and beyond for their clients. Whether you realize it or not, proper dog obedience training involves so much more than teaching the animal commands like “sit” and “stay”. The real world brings a myriad of distractions, including other animals, familiar or unfamiliar humans, tempting objects or aromas, and noises. A trained dog must be able to behave regardless of the distractions around it.

When a dog is in “excitement mode,” it cannot learn. At K9 Basics, we believe that keeping the dog’s attention is crucial. If you don’t have your dog’s attention, that creates confusion and frustration for both you and your companion. Dogs want to learn and want to please their owners. By getting their attention it will help reduce conflict between you and your dog. Once you grab and can keep their attention, the real training can begin. K9 Basics will guide you and give your dog clarity and clear direction. Attention is key!

Proper obedience training doesn’t mean changing the dog’s personality, energy or drive. It does mean getting control of the dog. Dogs are both social creatures and pack animals. As such, you need to be the one who is in control, not your dog. When training your pet, we help you mark the proper behavior so that the dog will learn what is expected.

If your loveable four-legged canine friend is eager to please but doesn’t know how, give South Jersey’s leading dog obedience training center a call right now! K9 Basics (866) 592-2742.

Day Training

The Day Training program is perfect for owners who don’t want to board their dog in our Board and Train program.

Day Training is a 8 day program where you drop your dog off at our facility in the morning and pick them up at the end of the day. During this program you are required to attend 3 Day Training group classes that relay all of your dog’s professional training throughout the program. At the end of the program you are guaranteed on leash control which includes: sitting and downing on command, holding a “place”, coming when called, and walking in a controlled heel position. Your dog will also learn to stop certain behaviors which include digging issues, jumping up on people or surfaces, and chewing and biting issues. Your dog will also learn how to wait at doorways, to properly get in and out of your car, and entering and exiting their crate.

After the Day Training program is complete, we recommend coming out to any of our Open Group classes which helps further your dog’s training and helps build a stronger relationship between you and your dog.

If you are dealing with severe behavior issues, please contact us to discuss which training program is right for your dog.

Board and Train

The Board and Train program is our residency program where you drop off your dog at our facility for 2-3 weeks. During that time your dog will get one on one professional dog training. This program is geared towards severe behavior cases or owners who simply don’t have the time to put in the harder foundational work into training their dog. During your dog’s stay you are welcomed to schedule a visit to see their progression (at the trainers’ discretion.) At the end of the program you are guaranteed on and off leash control which includes:

  • – Recall (coming when called)
  • – Sitting and downing on command until released or given another command
  • – Placing for a long duration of time no matter the distraction level
  • – Walking properly on leash and heeling when commanded
  • – No longer jumping on people or surfaces
  • – How to properly enter and exit and stay in a crate
  • – How to properly get in and out of the car
  • – Sitting before entering or exiting doorways
  • – Stopping certain behaviors like digging and chewing
  • – Not to react or lunge on walks towards people or other dogs/animals (if applicable)

This program also includes one home lesson and lifetime Group Training. We highly suggest to participate in the Group Classes after Board and Train to continue to build a better bond between you and your dog.

Advanced Pack Socialization

The key to Advanced Pack Socialization is to use the dog’s naturally strong social behavior to reduce stress and fear around other dogs and people. It also helps build confidence and language skills, allowing for many common behavior problems to slip away.

Advanced Pack Socialization is a comprehensive approach to canine socialization, specifically geared towards dogs with known socialization issues. It includes everything from the initial evaluation to pre-training dogs before they can enter the social arena and preparing the questionable dogs to safely enter the socialization classes.

Advanced Pack Socialization is a process that focuses on dogs that are typically excluded from doggie day cares and other socialization venues. Because of this fact, Advanced Pack Socialization offers us an opportunity to help dogs that otherwise might not be able to ever run with other dogs.

Our Socialization Classes are revolutionary in their approach and in their results. By allowing dogs with aggressive or reactive tendencies in a group with other dogs, they learn not merely to control their aggressive behavior, but to actually enjoy getting along with other dogs.

Contact the main office at or 866-592-2742 and press “0” to schedule an evaluation for your dog for socialization classes.

All dogs must be evaluated prior to being accepted into this class. Evaluations are done every Saturday at 8:15 am. First time participants must report 15 minutes early to complete paperwork with the training staff. This class starts promptly at 8:30 am. Late arrivals will not be admitted.

Advanced Pack Socialization is offered to current K9 Basics and Clif Wyck clients only.
